DIY Cool Soda Can Pop Top Lamp Shade Tutorial – Video

It’s fan to collect soda can tabs and recycle them into something practical. I have shared the idea to DIY Pretty Soda Pull Tab Belt (Video). And if you love crochet, you won’t miss out Crochet Pop Tab Flower Purse Free Pattern. This pop top lamp shade is a very cool piece of art that you can create and finish in a relatively short period of time provided that you have enough pop tops at hand. The photo above has fancy rainbow colored shade, but the tops were not painted. This is its natural color coming from factory anodized colored cans. It would be great if you can find and collect these colored pop tops. You can use the regular ones directly or paint it yourself for a similar result. If you don’t think you’ll be able to collect enough soda tabs that way but you still want to do this project, you can actually purchase pull tabs from Amazon Here. When you have gathered enough tabs you can now start bending each tabs about 120 degrees. Install the first layer of your chain on the top hoop. You may need to bend the tabs more so it clings securely to the hoop. Do this until you’ve gone all the way and back to the first tab. Snip the top part of the tab so you can do the “chain mail”. Thread the top loop (with the snipped part) to the bottom loops of the 2 adjacent tabs located on top. Continue attaching the tabs together until you reach the bottom part of the loop. Just like what was done on the top loop, you need to install the bottom hoop clip. Make necessary adjustments if needed.
