How to Get Rid Of Mildew Smell from Towels

Dry sweat all over during workout or after bathing, or leave the towels in the washing machine overnight after you’ve washed them and forgot to dry on time?! These happen sometimes, for me, and the gross mildew smell grows! Even though I try to wash again with softener (with fragrance), or dry them with nice-smelling dryer sheets, that mildewy smell still lingers. Great here is a simple solution we can try to eliminate those yucky odors for Better Smelling, More Absorbent Towels.

A Simple Solution For Better Smelling, More Absorbent Towels

What You Need:

  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • Hot water

What You Do:

  1. Put the smelly towels into your washing machine and fill with hot water. The best way to do this may even be to boil some water on the stove, the pour it directly into the load.
  2. Then, add one cup of vinegar to the load and run the towels through a normal wash cycle. After that cycle finishes, leave the towels in there and refill again with more boiling water and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Run through a second cycle.
  3. Lastly, dry your towels thoroughly, whether in the dryer or on a clothesline. Jillee swears this method should work 9 times out of 10. And if it doesn’t work, just repeat the process and you should have success.
